OVERVIEW
Developed as a production car based on the 2003 Geneva Motor Show Le Mans Quattro concept car, the Audi R8 was launched into production in 2006 with the Spyder model arriving in 2008. First generation models ran from 2006-2015 with incremental cosmetic and mechanical improvements following over seven years of production. In the final year of the first-generation models, just 495 US market examples were built in 2015, making these beautiful performance cars both rare and desirable.
Built with state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and leading material technology, Audi leveraged their Lamborghini connection tapping the incredible V10 engine mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox but also borrowing heavily from the lightweight aluminum structure used in the Gallardo. The Spyder design welcomed mid-engine performance with open air driving, delivering a true sports car that could serve both as a leader in acceleration and handling, as well as reliable and comfortable weekend road car.
This beautiful Panther Black example arrived at Audi Bellevue, Bellevue, WA September 4, 2014, and was purchased the next day by the first owner. In addition to numerous standard features including, backup camera, Bluetooth wireless, heated sport seats, LED brake lights, B&O 12 speaker sound system, and power folding side view mirrors, this car was optioned from the factory with the following cost-added premium features.

The first owner retained the car until September 2018 with regular interval services performed at Audi Bellevue including oil and filter changes, 5k service (performed at 3,500 miles), 15k mile service (performed at 5,204 miles), and a 25k service (performed at 6,565 miles). Accumulated miles under first ownership concluded at approximately 7k miles when the second and current owner purchased this R8 in October 2018. Services under current ownership have been regular including fluid exchanges, traction control and brake inspections, and general services consistent with dealer recommendations.
A rare triple black Spyder, this R8 has benefited from excellent care and indoor storage preserving the cosmetic condition to a very pleasing level. The Panther Black paint is glossy and smooth with excellent trim, beautiful glass, and stunning clear lenses. The cast alloy wheels wear staggered size original Pirelli PZero tires, all four of which still retain plenty of tread, though a set of new tires would be a prudent consideration for the next owner. The added cost red brake calipers sit atop large diameter disc brakes at all four corners adding much needed grip to meet the performance capabilities of the 525 hp V10 engine. With the convertible top retracted and the Spyder configuration revealed, the R8 reveals its muscular character, and sublime contours particularly finished in gleaming black.
With the top stowed under the smoothly articulated body panel, the interior reveals beautiful materials and finishes carefully rendered in matching black leather and satin silver trim. The optional Diamond Stitched Full Leather is accented by silver color stitching tracing the sport seat contours and quilting the diamond seat inserts. The interior is both modern and reminiscent of vintage hand-tooled leather, capturing contemporary elements such as the Bang & Olufsen 12-speaker stereo system, center console infotainment screen, comfort controls for AC, power heated seats, and climate management controls. The digital and analog instrument panel is fronted by a sculpted steering wheel backed by paddle shifters activating the 7-speed transmission. All surfaces have been properly cared for since new with excellent finishes revealing only mild evidence of use under two thoughtful owners. Both the front storage compartment and engine area are in factory correct condition with excellent cosmetics reflective of the low miles and careful services performed by the original selling dealership since delivered new.
Though miles have been kept to a minimum we’ve enjoyed briefly driving this car and find it to be an impressive example with refined performance capabilities worthy of supercar status. Road manners are surprisingly easy going when driving in general traffic, and yet fully capable of catapulting to freeway speeds in a matter of seconds, exhilarating both driver and passenger.
