1982 Arrows A4
The 1982 Arrows A4 is a rare and compelling chapter in Formula One history, representing the final evolution of Arrows’ ground-effect racing cars. Designed under Dave Wass and influenced by the era’s leading aerodynamic concepts, the A4 combined a honeycomb aluminum monocoque with early carbon fiber bodywork and was powered by the ubiquitous Ford Cosworth DFV V8. This example is one of only three complete A4s to survive from the 1982 World Championship.
Campaigned in the latter half of the season by Mauro Baldi, the A4 scored respectable finishes against stiff competition, including a 6th place at Zandvoort and Österreichring, and delivered a documented and continuous competition history from period racing through subsequent decades. Following its Formula One career, the car was acquired into historic racing in the late 1980s and has remained with a series of knowledgeable custodians and racers. The car has current FIA Historic Technical Passport papers through 2029 and has seen just four event weekends since the most recent tub level refurbishment.
This Arrows A4 presents a rare opportunity for serious historic competition or addition to an elite motorsport collection. Eligible for the FIA Historic Formula One Championship and Masters Historic Formula One events, it combines genuine provenance, technical significance, and proven track history in one of the era’s most interesting ground-effect designs.
