Colors Make The Car - Blu Pozzi over Natural Leather

2001 Ferrari 456M GT

Some cars just strike you more than others, just a feeling when you see it, when you get in it, that tells you "this one is special." Naturally, there is a manual transmission present to ratchetup the rarity and desirability, but the color combination is on an another level. Believed to be the only 456M GT finished in Blu Pozzi, this well maintained example is a collector's dream.

Throughout their impressive history, Ferrari has crafted some of the most memorable two-seat sports cars. Those equipped with V12 front engine and manual transmissions set the standard for premium road car driving experiences. But a big part of their premium brand position was due to Ferrari developing 2+2 designs. Such is the case with the last decade of the 20th century as Ferrari began integrating complex engineering systems, CAD based designs, and F1 derived technology. To meet these challenging advances, Pininfarina utilized these emergent technologies with the debut of the 456 at the 1992 Paris Auto Show. Determined to establish the 456 as a flagship offering, production models arrived in 1995 priced above both the 512TR and 550 Maranello. At an impressive $225k, the 456 was one of the most expensive premium luxury performance cars at that time.

Initial production was managed by Pininfarina, in 1996 Ferrari transferred manufacturing to their in house team. By 1998 the M (Modificata) was released which included improved seats, a new Becker stereo system, minor exterior improvements, suspension enhancements, and underbody air management enhancements that resulted in improved high speed stability.

Although Ferrari built a total of 3,289 456s from 1995-2003, just 688 456M examples were configured from the factory with the desirable 6-speed manual transmission. This Ferrari 456M GT was delivered new to the first owner through Miller Motorcars, Greenwich, CT. Invoiced July 2001, the total price with options was just over $250k. The car remained with that original owner 20+ years before finding the current (and 2nd) owner here locally last year.

Now fully serviced, and on the button, this Blu Pozzi 456M GT is ready for a new caretaker that will find a pride of placement in the garage or collection.
