OVERVIEW

The Ferrari 365 GTC/4 was introduced at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show. Stepping into Ferraris lineup after the legendary Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona was no easy task, as the Daytona’s dramatic styling and outright performance cast a long shadow, and any successor was bound to be judged against its intensity. Rather than attempting to outdo it outright, the GTC/4 took a more nuanced approach—offering comparable V12 performance in a more refined, comfortable, and usable package. In many ways, it represents Ferrari’s recognition that grand touring could be just as compelling as outright aggression. A scant 500 examples of the 365 GTC/4 were built between 1971 and 1973, adding true rarity to an outstanding all-around package.

Chassis 15787 is an exceptional example of the Ferrari 365 GTC/4, a model that has steadily earned recognition as one of the most rewarding and usable models of its era. This car benefits from a remarkable early history. As documented by its original bill of sale, the GTC/4 was delivered to its first owner, Dr. Adel Awad, via the official Ferrari agent in Beirut, Lebanon. Delivered to Dr. Awad in Los Angeles, it remained in his loving care for nearly 50 years. During that time, it was carefully maintained and sparingly driven, accruing just over 22,000 miles—an unusually low figure that speaks to its preservation.

Circa 2015 the car was the subject of a high-quality restoration, addressing both mechanical and cosmetic needs. The 4.4-liter Colombo V12 was fully rebuilt by the notable Carobu Engineering in Estancia, NM and dyno tested, producing strong, usable power with the signature Ferrari character. The gearbox, differential, suspension, and braking systems were likewise rebuilt, resulting in a car that feels cohesive, responsive, and confidence-inspiring on the road.

In 2024, the car entered its second chapter of ownership and relocated to Seattle, Washington, where it has continued to receive attentive care from the experts at Vintage Racing Motors in Redmond, WA. Its history is unusually well documented, with a comprehensive file that includes the original bill of sale, warranty card, factory correspondence, delivery records, and extensive service and restoration documentation. Few examples offer this level of continuity and transparency.

The cosmetic presentation reflects the same attention to detail. The bodywork is straight and well-finished, complemented by high-quality paint and correct trim throughout. Inside, the cabin has been fully retrimmed using proper materials and finishes, including the distinctive dash covering unique to the GTC/4. The car sits correctly on Cromodora wheels fitted with period Michelin XWX tires, reinforcing its authentic appearance.

Combining long-term single ownership, a recent and comprehensive restoration, and an outstanding level of documentation, this 365 GTC/4 stands as a highly compelling example. It offers not only impeccable provenance and condition, but also the kind of balanced driving experience that defines Ferrari’s classic front-engine grand tourers. For the uninitiated, the GTC/4 can seem like a lesser version of the iconic Daytona, but those that know the potential of this model will be the first to tell you about the incredible sounds and feels that it generates. Ask an owner, and you will undoubtedly be regaled with praise for one of Ferrari’s unsung masterpieces.
