OVERVIEW

The Porsche 993 Turbo has become one of the most engaging performance icons of the 20th century. Culminating the best in air-cooled Turbo development, the litany of performance features was heavily influenced by the groundbreaking and highly sophisticated 1986 Porsche 959. At that time, features such as a 6-speed manual gearbox, all-wheel drive, twin turbochargers, and 400+hp were highly advanced. The production 993 offered all this and more in a package that could be driven with confidence and reliability. The 993 Turbo would also prove to be the final iteration of the original air-cooled 911 both in driving characteristics and body design. Porsche enthusiasts today favor the 993 for its iconic 911 greenhouse coupled with the pinnacle of air-cooled advanced engineering and a host of modern equipment.

Introduced in 1995, the Turbo Coupe offered the all new 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged engine, air-to-air intercoolers, electronic engine management, new cylinder heads, and a 959-derived all-wheel drive. The rear fenders were widened, the front and rear bumper caps redesigned for better airflow, and a fixed rear spoiler perched over the engine housed the intercooler. The Turbo featured larger brakes, a 10-speaker stereo, and the added pleasure of 0-60 launch times that dominated contemporary acceleration charts.

According to service documentation and Carfax data, this 993 Turbo was sold new in Washington State where it has remained under various ownership, with a two-year period in Portland, OR 2009-2011, returning to Washington in 2013, subsequently purchased by the current owner in 2018. Services performed at reputable specialty dealerships include Porsche Bellevue inspections, fluid changes, brake and tire checks, battery replacement, alignment, and other work as needed.

Our example here is a factory Paint to Sample (PTS) car delivered in Silver Metallic over black leather. The paint protection film has been professionally removed (other than the front bumper and hood) during preparation for sale, and paint correction performed to a high visual standard. The paint is consistent and glossy throughout, showing just a touch of patina for the age and mileage.

In March 2023, with 50,191 miles indicated under current ownership, this Porsche was treated to an engine out service at Porsche Bellevue (a “Porsche Classic” Partner), including the installation of a new clutch, clutch accumulator, addressing multiple oil leaks, new battery, new soft brake lines, brake fluid flush, oil and filter change, four new Michelin tires, and other various consumable replacements as part of the 50k mile engine out service. This invoice totaled nearly $25,000.00.

Additionally, this Porsche is equipped with performance enhanced Bilstein PSS10 adjustable suspension and a Fister sport exhaust. Having covered 50,800 miles, the odometer reading is consistent with consecutively accumulated and documented mileage reported on the current Carfax. The following factory options are indicated on the underside of the front storage compartment lid:

  • L999 – PTS Silver Metallic

  • C02 – USA Market

  • 139 – Seat Heating Left

  • 340 – Seat Heating Right

  • 454 – Automatic Speed Control

  • 650 – Sunroof

Currently in our showroom, this Porsche 993 Turbo presents beautifully as you walk up to it. The finishes are excellent throughout including the PTS Silver Metallic paint displaying excellent depth and high gloss on the body surfaces. The body panels show excellent door, trunk, and hood gaps, and excellent fit to the front and rear body seams. The front bumper and hood are in excellent condition with only minor underside front spoiler driveway marks as typically found. Front and rear head and taillight lenses are vivid and glossy, while the original factory glass retains the correct brand etches indicative of original glass, other than the replacement windshield. The silver wheels with optional Porsche colored crest center caps are in excellent condition, accented by red brake calipers perched over the larger Turbo disc brakes. The 18” factory rims feature a set of newly mounted Michelin Pilot Sport performance tires, installed in March 2023.

The gorgeous original black leather interior has been properly maintained, displaying only minor evidence of use on the driver’s seat. The front and rear leather seats remain remarkably supple and smooth to the touch with correct finishes, smooth bolsters, and optional seat heaters for both driver and passenger. The door panels, including door pulls and door pocket lids are all in very nice condition. The dashboard, gorgeous instruments, and center console are in excellent condition with switches and features operating as expected. Of note, the 6-speed manual gearbox sits prominently within the center console, enticing the air-cooled engine that vaulted the 911 into the legendary performance status it still retains today. The headliner, sun visors, and control surfaces have been regularly maintained and detailed. The overall fit and finish of the interior is cohesive and tidy, validating the ongoing care, indoor storage, and dealer servicing this Porsche has received since new.

The engine compartment and front storage area are both unmodified and remain in excellent condition. The original engine is correct and properly maintained with clean components and factory engine stickers still evident along the rear cowling of the engine compartment. Correct materials and finishes are seen throughout the front storage area including the collapsible red-rim spare tire, correct and original front storage liner, and the factory options sticker mounted under the front lid. The chassis displays visual condition consistent with a well-maintained, accident-free example showing clean components reflective of indoor storage. The floor pan, rocker panels, and suspension show no visual evidence of structural compromise, consistent with zero reported accidents in the Carfax report.

On the road, this Porsche performs very well, benefiting from the recent engine out service and clutch replacement. The motor provides a distinctive turbocharged air-cooled exhaust note, wonderfully enhanced by aftermarket sport exhaust. Porsche Turbos deliver a remarkably crisp yet vintage 911 feel, inviting drivers to enthusiastically engage in the rewarding experience of performance driving.

This Porsche Turbo comes with a set of factory books and leather case, owner’s manual, factory air compressor, and factory jack.

Ready to deliver many more miles of enjoyable driving and proud participation at Porsche club events, this 993 Turbo is sure to delight any enthusiast of the historically important air-cooled lineage, distinctively defined and embodied in the final iteration of the iconic 911 Turbo.
