OVERVIEW

Layered in rich history the “RS” moniker is reserved for Porsche’s best offerings. The RS lineage began with the 1973 Carrera RS and has evolved through the years bringing us tremendous driver focused cars. In the water-cooled Porsche era, the 996 GT3 RS was a track focused machine that was not sold in the USA. The 997 GT3 RS cars continued the use of lightweight materials and brilliant engineering in the search of lower lap times and was heralded as an exceptional driver’s car.

The 997.1 RS was introduced in 2007, followed on by the 997.2 RS cars in 2010/11. The motoring press was over the moon about the car at launch, and as the years have gone by, many still say it is the most driver focused chassis produced, including present day machinery. Commonly referred to as the last great analog Porsche 911, the 997 RS cars were of course only offered with a manual transmission.

The 997.1 GT3 RS was a true limited production vehicle from Porsche.  Just 1,168 units were produced worldwide, with only 410 cars making their way to the United States. There is a reason people gush about them, they really are that good. Get your hands on one however you can – beg, borrow, or steal a ride with a friend to see for yourself.

The exterior cosmetic condition of this car is very nice with the low mileage (sub 8K). Original paint in Black on all panels, and the front of the car is wrapped from the A-pillars forward in clear paint protection film (PPF), as well as the roof, mirrors, and a-pillars themselves. The stock 19” GT3 RS wheels in Orange are in great condition with on a few rock nicks on some spokes. Due the PPF, there are no other notable rock chips on the car. Please note that a new factory RS front spoiler has been fitted to the car after photography.

The interior is the same overall condition, with just a few entry/exit scuffs on the driver’s side door sill. The car also has PCM 3.0 navigation and Sport Chrono options. The seats, steering wheel and shift knob alcantara are all in excellent condition. The common issue with the “sticky” radio buttons has been remedied already during our prep of the car here.

Mechanically the car just had an engine oil and filter change in July 2020 and is showing 70+% on brake pads and tire life. It is ready for backroad drives, or straight into track duty as the new owner sees fit. Offered with books/manuals, one original key, clean title and a clean Carfax report, this original paint, low mileage GT3 RS is sure to delight.
